Sharyn presenting

Sharyn is very animated and gets her people to start writing

When presenting her workshops on the importance of preserving the past, Sharyn uses her unique and energetic style of presentation. Because of Sharyn’s enthusiasm, thoughts of the past begin to emerge from the minds of workshop participants, creating a room filled with high energy. She has a special talent of helping people feel comfortable about going back in time. Sharyn creates a relaxed atmosphere which helps participants think of stories that relate to their early years. There is no pressure to share stories but, because of Sharyn’s coaching, participants become very excited about sharing special memories with each other.

Sharyn developed this workshop of encouraging participants to preserve their past as a result of helping her father write his autobiography. Realizing how special and how important it was to learn about her father’s background, Sharyn decided to develop a program that would encourage others to share special memories with their families.

At a recent workshop Sharyn shared a story of her past. Her story triggered a memory for one of the participants. “I can’t believe I remembered this story,” he exclaimed. “I haven’t thought about how much my father loved to play his guitar in such a long time.” Another veteran member of the community, said, “Sharyn’s seminar was great. Giving us ideas on how to preserve our past is something we really need to learn about.”

Amy Hollander, Director of the Senior Adult Services at the JCC in Stamford, Connecticut, describes Sharyn’s program as, “fascinating and entertaining. Many seniors find it difficult to share their past with family members and this workshop motivated several participants to begin a sharing dialogue. We hope to plan session two very soon.”

Sharyn is available to present her workshops to organizations, clubs, senior residents, community centers or home parties. She is also available to work with private clients. To learn more about Sharyn’s workshops for your organization you may click here.
